What is teeth whitening?

Tooth whitening aims to reduce tooth discoloration. It is based on the application of a suitable gel, often based on peroxide, after clinical evaluation.

Some stains are superficial and can sometimes be improved by simple cleaning or polishing. Other discolorations are deeper and linked to aging, tobacco, diet, certain medications or mineralization abnormalities.

The response to whitening is never strictly identical from one patient to another, which makes professional evaluation essential before choosing the right approach.

Contraindications to whitening

  • Grossesse ou allaitement.
  • Certain inflammatory digestive diseases such as Crohn's disease.
  • Brûlures d’estomac chroniques.
  • Système immunitaire fortement affaibli.
  • Marked problems with TMJ or bruxism.
  • Wearing an orthodontic appliance during treatment.

When are dental veneers recommended?

  • To redesign a smile according to the patient's expectations.
  • To improve the shape, color and sometimes apparent alignment of teeth.
  • To hide certain visible imperfections.
  • To help close certain spaces such as diastemas as indicated in the case.

Veneer installation steps and sessions

First session

  • Preparation of tooth surfaces.
  • Taking necessary fingerprints or records.

Deuxième séance

  • Try-in of veneers.
  • Validation of the choice then bonding with suitable fixing materials.

What is dental composite?

Dental composite is a tooth-shaded material used to repair cracks, fractures, discolorations or small losses of substance. It is appreciated for its aesthetic rendering and its good ratio between discretion, resistance and simplicity of implementation.

It can be used to partially reconstruct a damaged tooth, to correct small visible irregularities or to seal certain caries lesions in a lasting manner.

How is the installation of the composite carried out?

After preparing the tooth, the resin is applied, modeled and adapted precisely to the desired shape. The finish ends with smoothing and polishing which improves both the visual result and durability over time.

  • Light correction: small surface repairs for aesthetics or protection.
  • Deeper filling: restoration of a decayed tooth with a resistant and discreet material.
